David Suzuki’s new movie will open this weekend to the sound of scratching audiences, wind farms add whales and seals to the list of ‘will it blend’ wildlife and British bees have been inappropriate with their close relatives.
All these stories and more explained, with a hottie, in your weekly round-up.
Part One: Al Gore & Friends
Al Gore’s legacy is diminishing faster than the polar ice caps, but who knew that it would become toxic so soon? Literally toxic that is. A school named after Gore and Rachel Carson turns out to have been built on toxic soil. Needless to say, the green activists that the LA school district wanted to pander to were less than happy:
“Renaming this terribly contaminated school after famous environmental advocates is an affront to the great work that these individuals have done to protect the public’s health from harm,” an environmental coalition wrote in a letter to the Los Angeles Unified School District
According to the NGO Progression Ireland, Kingspan, of which Gore’s Generation Investment Management (GIM) firm owns twelve percent, does not use certifying systems designed to prevent the spread of illegal logging. Since the black market for illegal logging is a huge contributor to global warming, which is supposedly a concern at the heart of GIM’s very existence, the match and investment seem suspect. More concerning? Progressio [sic] made Mr. Gore and GIM aware of their concerns over a year ago and haven’t received a response from either yet.
Part Two: AGW Scaremongers
It’s said that you can tell what sort of person someone is by the company they keep. So next time a hippie friend tries to lecture you about the climate, remind them that environmentalism is supported by Charles Manson, the Unabomber, James Lee the Discovery Channel hijacker and eco-terrorist group the Sea Shepherds.
Quite the impressive collection of crazy, no? But we’re not done yet. Greenpeace is escalating the ‘climate war’, then they fly their operatives home. We are warned environmentalists are ‘getting mad as hell‘, but only need to read the calls to violence and vandalism hosted at Grist to know that the movement is the last refuge of unhinged malcontents. They are like the black bloc, the thugs that show up at G8 venues to trash the city, only because they are cloaked in green, useful idiots like James Cameron encourage them.
All the anger, all the rage is misdirected, they only have themselves to blame for their ineptitude.
Are you human? You parasite!
Lord Stern is warning nations that refuse to toe the thin green line that trade sanctions may be in their future. What he fails to see is that the economies of the EU may be so thoroughly destroyed by his green agenda that they will need aid, not trade.
Jesse Jackson’s Caddy was jacked while he pimped green jobs at a rally in Motown. Oh, the ironing. It makes you wonder about the eco-sets choice of wheels.

You may have heard of the new website Skeptical Science. It’s not what it seems, it’s the latest and lamest attempt by warmers to trick the good people looking for balance in their climate knowledge.
The IPCC was slammed for including propaganda and articles from NGO’s in the AR4 report, so you’d think that global bodies would have learned not to do that. You’d be wrong, the World Bank didn’t learn a thing:
The impacts of climate change are most visible in the dramatic changes occurring to the planet’s freshwater resources, says a new report written by WWF for the World Bank.
Hippies down! Eco-lobby group Clean Energy Works is folding its tent and ceasing operations after its failure to see any environmental legislation passed on Capitol Hill. My sides, they ache.
Ex-NHL enforcer Georges Laraque was recently made deputy leader of Canada’s Green Party. In an effort to shore up his credibility, Laraque has signed on to be one of the stars in ‘Battle of the Blades’. Sometimes, this is too easy.
Greenpeace warns Turkey to wise up to climate change. Makes you wonder if there’s an ‘or else’ lurking for Turkey.
A Guardianista ‘climate-change mum’ worries about Mother Earth and re-invents her kids as ‘Generation CO2’. Question, is sending kids to school in ‘organic back-to-school clothes’ appropriate?
Jolly Prince Chuckles, the gold standard of crazy and heirhead to the throne began a tour of the UK to launch his ‘Start’ initiative. In a train that costs £800,000-a-year. Somehow, donating an old pair of trousers for recycling is unlikely to offset having your own luxury train.

It’s not just British royalty that likes to lecture the unwashed masses about their consumption, rich folks like Bill Gates want you to conserve too. Just don’t ask Bill about his heated driveway, that’s inconvenient.
Peter Lehner of the NRDC puts his fingers in his ears and screams that the science is settled, dammit:
If the science is so unassailable that the last few hold outs are giving up their skeptical stands, isn’t it time for the media to stop trying to “balance” climate articles? The press doesn’t cover evolution or the physics of a hurricane’s path as if it were up for debate. Why should it persist in treating climate change like an open question.
Man continues to thrive on Gaia, which upsets Grist no end.
The eco-elite are enemies of democracy. It’s a good read, all of it.
The UN continues to issue alarmism and fearmongering, because that’s all it has left.
A Democrat that supported the climate legislation before it failed is headed to electoral doom. Heh.
Warmists and the religion of green, exposed:
The rigid strictures of eco-worship don’t leave much room for fun. Virtually everything one does is sinful – traveling during holidays (especially if it involves plane travel), driving your car, having a comfortable temperature in your home, using incandescent light bulbs, leaving the phone charger plugged in, idling in the school parking lot, driving instead of walking or bicycling to the corner store, using the fireplace, and on and on. The new eco-doctrine demands that everyone – believers and unbelievers – must endure a living Purgatory on earth so Polar Bears can procreate in greater numbers and Greenlanders can remain comfortably frozen.
Part Three: Inconvenient Truths
The rate of melting of Greenland and Antarctic ice is less than half of that predicted by climate scientists. It makes you wonder if climate Ph.D’s come in cereal boxes.
Energy and where it comes from (not much is renewables). Australia can build 8,000 solar farms, or just 35 nukes to meet its energy emissions targets. Only one of these makes sense, but that doesn’t mean much in the political Oz of Australia.
CO2 doesn’t cause bad weather. Rinse and repeat, hippies.
China: 10,000 coal trucks and the mother of all traffic jams aren’t exactly signs of a greening economy.
More evidence of cereal box scientists, climate sensitivity to CO2 has been overestimated:
New research, recently published in the journal Science, shows that the Q10 of ecosystem respiration is invariant with respect to mean annual temperature, and independent of the analyzed ecosystem type. This newly discovered temperature insensitivity suggests that climate sensitivity to CO2 is much smaller than assumed by climate models.
The incredible shrinking conference. Big names skip the National Clean Energy Summit this year.
Britain’s Daily Express dons its boots and calmly kicks a green bully in the greenads.
As America’s last incandescent light bulb factory closes, the FTC sues an LED light bulb manufacturer for making false claims about energy savings and lamp life. Left hand, do you even know right hand exists? Oh, and efficient lamps increase energy use. Wait, what?
Hippies are upset that rational homeowners with access to air conditioning dared to use it. Oh the humanity.
Rising sea levels will drown the Maldives and Manhattan and… what, no rise? OK, nevermind, move along.
Electric cars, crashing a grid near you soon:
The electric car is an immediate issue. The province estimates 5 per cent of vehicles will be electric by 2020, Haines said; but he thinks it could be higher, and in any case electric vehicles will be concentrated in cities. Plugging in a car battery to charge it up draws about triple the amount of power used by a typical home during the daytime, he said. Compounding the problem, most people will want to plug in their cars after work in the early evening, which is just when household demand for power hits its peak.
“You connect this huge load on the grid, and the grid simply won’t handle that type of load,”
Here’s an urgent global campaign we can all support, the campaign against urgent global campaigns.
Al Gore and others claim the Arctic ice is at record lows. Err, no. It’s not, it was lower before the first SUV was made.
Wind power is useless as a power source, but an excellent source of shredded birds. As the giant fans move offshore we can now add seals and whales to the toll of the ‘green’ windmills. Imagine the shrieking if an oil company did this? Maybe Paul Watson can declare Windmill Wars and give us the best green on green popcorn munching spectacle evah.
Watson may be less inclined to tackle the wind farms owned by the mafia, unless he wishes to sleep with the shredded fishes. At least we finally have some honest brokers in renewable power.

Global warming doesn’t cause African civil wars.
Plagiarism-gate. Donna Laframboise exposes the IPCC’s cut and paste department of climate reporting.
Green crowds are harder to find these days.
Green power in Ontario is expensive, useless and too heavily subsidized.
Part Four: AGW in the News
ABC (the Aussie version) withdrew a story about melting ice on Mount Everest after it was challenged to provide a source and couldn’t. With impeccable comedic timing, Clive Hamilton attacks the media for giving equal weight to the ‘anti-science’ opinions of skeptics. Heh.
Beeliverance. Bees in Britain are more likely to die of getting it on with their sister than global warming. Inbred bees, now with banjos.

Lousie Gray, the chief press release re-cycler at the Daily Telegraph reports that global warming will kill your pet. Clearly she’s never owned a cat. Whatever, might as well add it to The List.
So much for settled science; comet cleared of dinosaur extinction, authorities are now questioning fresh water from lakes about its whereabouts during the Younger-Dryas climate reversal.
Canadians noticed a sharp drop in the IQ in the Ottawa valley this week, but relaxed when it was discovered that it was only Nancy Pelosi in town on a fact-finding tour about the oil sands. Not that Speaker Pelosi could recognize a fact if it walked up to her wearing an ‘I am a fact’ t-shirt and introduced itself as a fact, with Arizona-proof ID of being, in fact, a fact.
What good is it for environmental types to blame every extinction on global warming when supposedly extinct species pop up unexpectedly? Pesky nature.
Genetically modified salmon are approved by the FDA, which is sure to upset hippies everywhere.
Canada and Scandinavia are set to become the powerhouses of the new globally warmed planet as the climate turns nicer and we can get to all the nice fossil fuels currently under the ice.
Horseshoe crabs are threatened by global warming. And by global warming we mean overfishing and big pharma. Wait, what?
Never mind when the Northwest Passage was navigable, who wants to sail across Antarctica?
Can a trace gas move the Earth’s crust 11ft? More proof that we worry about all the wrong stuff, all the time. Interesting that the planet moved to right, not the left. There’s a warning in there hippies, even Gaia leans right.
The WSJ has ten tips for going green at home. Just in case you’re a hippie that survived reading this far down.
Alan Caruba vs. The Star-Ledger. Blood bath.

Part Five: Global Hottie
Round-up readers haven’t been treated to any Natalie Portman for a while, and that just won’t do, so enjoy Nat as she enjoys some music. These pictures are hard to pick out, the hours I spend researching this. You’re welcome.
