It’s been an exciting week again, with the US political sphere dominated by the Republican National Convention while Canadians in turn will soon be off to the polls.
Global warming is a topic that will raise it’s ugly hoax-y head during the campaigns both north and south of the border, so here is this your weekly ration of denier ammo to take and use on the AGW believers in your life. Have fun, say hi from me.
The global warming alarmist-in-chief and prophet profit spoke at the DNC last week; you can see how Al thought it went at his blog. A quote from his speech:
anything we’ve ever experienced in the history of humankind.”
Wow, that is not using fear to promote the message, right Al?
Staying with the Democratic convention, the ever vigilant Anthony Watts noticed that perhaps the event wasn’t as green as it could have been.
Click this link and marvel at the subtle yet biting humor displayed by Watts. You’ll be glad you did. When you’ve stopped giggling, get back here quick, I’ve only just started.
A New Zealand politician, one Rodney Hide, said this in Parliament about Al Gore and his hoax:
Al Gore is a phoney and a fraud on this issue, and the emissions
trading scheme is a worldwide scam and swindle.”
Ouch.
The People’s Cube credits Al Gore with being able to save the planet by quieting the sun. More on that pesky yellow ball later.
Al’s friend, warming muppet and fellow global traveler, James Hansen has decided to hop over to the UK to defend… hippies! And he’s using the appearance to lecture on the folly of fossil fuels.
Canuckian global warmer David Suzuki wrote a moving piece this week that simply appeals for us to pay attention to him because he’s old. And his dad said that was good manners. Or something.
Part Two: AGW Scaremongers and Propagandists
Never the kind of people to let basic rights spoil a good fight, warmers will be encouraged to know that a law professor in Canada thinks there is good enough evidence to let the government prosecute carbon emitters under criminal law. Fascist, much?
On the topic of warming zealots wanting to shut down opponents, see this from CO2sceptics. This is not new behavior from warming believers. See also the opening paragraph of this post at CCF.
Global warming causes cooling. Really.
The alarmists never exaggerate the facts a little. But they will exaggerate a lot:
A new TV mini-series called Scorched will almost certainly not be fair and balanced:
nature is on the warpath. It’s armageddon,” the publicity kit modestly
proclaims. Media previews have described the plot as “scarily
plausible”. Director Tony Tilse claims the idea of a city running out
of water is “basically a true story, but it just hasn’t happened yet”.
Fortunately it appears that no A-list talent was injured in the making of Scorched.
Lewis Pugh, idiot.
This week global warming was blamed for the destruction of a bridge in Ireland. Or was it?
Making things worse. A lot worse.
Solar power, one of the popular sustainable energy sources we hear about all the time, will end if tax subsidies end. Which really sucks because it takes 100 years to get any benefit.
Al Gore’s scam, not so popular after all.
Australia’s economy could enter free-fall if carbon trading is introduced.
More than 500,000 people in the UK could be pushed into poverty as a result of the wind power initiative. This alarmed me, I had no idea that there were still half a million people not yet in poverty in the UK.
When scientists and engineers decide that ‘extreme and risky action‘ might be necessary, be afraid:
other options, namely geo-engineering, to give us time to let the world
come to its senses.” He said it was important to research and develop
the technologies so that they could be deployed if necessary. “At the
moment it’s almost like talking about how we could stop world war two
with an atomic bomb, but we haven’t done the research to develop
nuclear fission.”
Talking of scary science that could really warm up the planet:
black holes could be created when the particles collide, but they don’t
consider this a risk.”
Well. that’s a relief then. A mini-black hole under the Swiss Alps might really spoil the planet’s day.
Man-made CO2? No problem.
Whenever AGW believers gather for conferences we are told not to worry about their carbon footprint because they biy offsets. Except when they don’t.
That shrinking arctic ice. Not happening.
The economy continues to be bad news for the warmers. I guess the planetary emergency can wait.
The British Army is trying to figure out how to fight… climate change?
Warming, cooling? let’s call the whole thing off.
Green agenda kills monkeys. Well orangutans actually, but I didn’t want to type ‘orangutan’. And now I’ve typed it twice.
This online debate featured Jennifer Marohasy and seemed like a good idea. The end result, not so good - they need a moderator next time.
Canada agrees with the Republican VP nominee and Alaskan governor about the polar bears.
The world is warming! But man has nothing to do with it. But wait, it’s not warming. Make your minds up, this stuff is supposed to be settled.
Global warming gets the blame for everything, giving deniers like me ammo. What a pity.
Snow in Africa. Try selling that as warming. What, oh, wait.
More economic bad news for the planetary emergency that can be put on hold with apparently no ill effect.
Not strictly an AGW story, but you can see the comparison of the people discussed in this story about banning things and climate alarmists.
Lefty heads explode when they meet a denier. heh.
The chosen one can defeat climate change. All it takes is hope. Hope and change. But not climate change. Hope, that’s OK.
Governor Palin, in the NYT. About those bears, again. Apparently they’re tasty. (I made the last part up).
Canada’s opposition leader changes his green carbon tax plan so he’ll get less destroyed in the coming election.
This week’s version of last week’s popular It’s the Sun, Stupid.
Greenhouse effect? Bunkum.
A book plug.
The Sun is spotless. No, it’s not. But it is getting cooler. See?
Remember Al Gore’s claim about Hurricane Katrina and global warming? Tripe.
Why was there less Arctic ice in 1932 if it’s warmer now?
10 myths and facts about global warming, via Skeptics Global Warming.
That debunked hockey stick graph? It’s back. No, it’s not. Is it?
Are fireflies dying out?
The obvious choice for this week’s hottie was newly minted GOP VP Nominee Sarah Palin. But I’m not doing it, after the rough ride she’s gotten from the lefty blogs this week I think I’ll show some respect.
This weeks hottie is brought to you by the link to the firefly story above, which I went looking for just so I could feature this hottie. Deniers of the world, meet Firefly‘s Morena Baccarin.
That’s all for this week’s update, enjoy the weekend.

Maybe you will find that this post from my blog meets the high standards for your weekly global warming update.

Also, I’d like to nominate Sarah Palin for this week’s hottie, since she’s a skeptic ya know.
Keep up the good work. I’m adding you to my blog roll.
