Alarmist Predictions

For the birds?

The huge oil spill in the Gulf could be an ecological disaster, which means that ecotards are rushing to bring attention to innocent wildlife that will be affected by man’s ‘addiction to oil’:

It [the oil] could kill millions of birds, some of which are endangered species. Spring is the migration and breeding season and thus the spill’s damage to birds will be more far-reaching than if it happened in December.

If warmists were consistent in their concern about bird deaths, perhaps their eager rush to condemn oil as a bird killer wouldn’t seem so opportunistic. Where’s ecotard outrage over the Altamont bird shredders?

The slaughter at Altamont Pass is being raised by avian scientists who say the drive among environmentalists to rapidly boost U.S. wind-farm power 20 times could lead to massive bird losses and even extinctions. New wind projects “have the potential of killing a lot of migratory birds,” said Michael Fry, director of conservation advocacy at the American Bird Conservancy in Washington.

slick or

shredded, still dead

If warmists were truly concerned about birds, tearing down bird shredders, a cat cull* or a ban on windows might be as effective as a ban on offshore drilling.

  • [...] all the recent posts about birds drowning in soup a la British Petroleum versus birds running into giant psychosis [...]

  • Better cover your kitties ears, because we actually have cat culls in Australia. We have a knee-jerk thing going on about introduced “feral” species wiping out the defenceless “natives”. I remember going to the US for the first time as a teenager and being wowed because people actually have charities that feed stray cats. That would be so politically incorrect here. The latest has been a government sponsored fox shooting competition, and you’ve probably heard about the rabbit thing…

  • My parents had a windmill and an endangered owl in California flew right into it a few years ago and died. It ruined the blades and it cost thousands of dollars to replace them. My Dad had to turn over the bird to a Native American artist in their town, who are the only ones who legally can use the feathers. She made dream catchers and other stuff and sold them.

I couldn’t live in the nutty situation my parents did for nearly 20 years, with a windmill, a diesel generator and a 600 foot well. When they got old and sick and couldn’t take care of it all, the whole eco life style fell apart…being an ecotard is for the young ’cause when you get old, it becomes a nightmare…and you just want the lights, toilet, water, air and heat to work when you switch them on !

Who doesn’t love wildlife and the ecosystem ? The earth is our only home… I am sick and tired of celebrities etc. chiding us with Blah, blah, blah about it all…it is just nuts what has happened with the ecotards putting a guilt trip on everyone and the power they wield politically and financially ! Calgon, take me away !!!
