Alarmist Predictions

Steffi Wants a Sick Note

Liberal Leader Stephane Dion has revealed a hearing problem that he suggests makes it difficult for him to understand English:

"I've been tested, and it's the case that I hear everything when the
sound is isolated, but when it's confused with other sounds, then it's
completely confused," he said. "It may affect my ability then to catch
the music of the beautiful language of English."

Also affecting his ability to understand English?  He's French.  Not Quebec French, but French French, from France.  Did I mention he's French?

Asking for a sympathy card in the first days of the campaign is not a great ploy if you want to be seen as a strong, capable leader.  When the modern international language of diplomacy is English, why reveal that you can't understand it?  Chretien spoke English at least as badly as Dion and he never needed to make excuses for it.

Stephane Dion has pitched an early bid to win the sympathy vote.  He needs it, the Liberals are going to be torn to pieces October 14th.  When even the Globe & Mail won't give unconditional support, you know its over.
