Read this excellent analysis of a New York Times story about Newtok, Alaska, and you will see the NYT piece is either propaganda for green alarmists, or lies. An excerpt:
…there is nothing odd about what’s happening to Newtok and certainly nothing that qualifies a New York Times environmental reporter to declare its residents “the first climate refugees in the United States“.
Al Gore, the lying king himself, approved the tactic of exaggerating:
I believe it is appropriate to have an over representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it [global warming] is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are
In other words, it’s OK to lie about the scale of the problem. Their lies are designed to sell you a solution you don’t need, for a problem you don’t have.
If you came to this blog because you’re curious about skeptics, you’ve stumbled onto a prime example of why everyone should harbor doubt about Al Gore’s planetary ‘crisis’.
If there was a real crisis, do you think the NYT would resort to lies, or Al Gore would need to spend $300 million advertising it? The current economic crisis managed to persuade people it was serious, and I don’t believe NBC received a dime to promote it; ads are for soap and shoes, not crises.
