Ontario Election Results

Dalton McGuinty is still Premier, albeit of a Minority Government.

The Hudak PC’s did okay, but not enough to win outright. In fact, it was the NDP who spoiled McGuinty’s attempt at a third majority, picking up 7 new seats that would probably have gone Liberal.

There’s good news, bad news and better news from last night’s results:

Good news: lots of blog material will no doubt spew from a minority government

Bad news: We have to endure Premier Dad’s smug mug for another term

Better news: the leader of the Greens lost. Badly:

Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner lost in Simcoe-Grey, where he had been hoping to unseat Conservative incumbent Jim Wilson.

There was some muttering in the comments about the election being fixed. It wasn’t. I don’t much like the result, but blame the weakness of Tim Hudak’s campaign. He needed to represent a real change for voters, and didn’t. He folded like a cheap suit on health and education spending, and if he wasn’t willing to overhaul the big budget items, there wasn’t much to choose between him and McGuinty.

Here’s Stana Katic, a consolation hottie from Hamilton for down-in-the-mouth Ontarians:

to much of my dismay, I was right about that province when mcguinty got in again. the dumbasses in the GTA would vote liberal if Adolf hitler himself was running for premier, but now they got something just as close, and that’s tax and spend premier “raging alcoholic dad” Dalton mcguinty. Think about it. he’s drunk on power, he abuses his “children/voters, and leading his home to financial ruin, in spite of mooching lots of money from his children/voters.
