Who is Viscount Monkley?

Telegraph environment correspondent Louise Gray is well known for recycling press releases from Greenpeace, the WWF or whoever needs to get their ‘message’ to the Telegraph’s readers.

Today she tried her hand at an original piece and revealed the depth of her ignorance on the one topic she gets paid to cover.

Her article ‘Climate change: Key influencers in the debate’ lists the movers and shakers in the climate debate, but who, exactly is Viscount Monkley? A screenshot, in case it gets memory holed:

How could it be that Gray is so dismissive of Viscount Monckton, the most successful skeptic in the UK? She says herself he’s ‘not taken very seriously at home‘, but surely a professional journalist should at least pretend to know players from both sides of the debate when writing a piece about those people. Unless of course she’s a hopeless partisan with no interest or honesty about the issues.
